Jean McNeil wins PRISM Non-Fiction contest.

UEA Creative Writing tutor Jean McNeil is the winner of this year’s PRISM magazine contest for ‘Ice Diaries: a climate change memoir’. Founded in 1959, and associated with Creative Writing programme at the University of Western Columbia, PRISM international is the oldest literary magazine in Western Canada. Jean (pictured) has taught on the UEA Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) MA since 2006. Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, she is the author of nine books, most recently the novel ‘The Ice Lovers’, which is set in the Antarctic. In 2005 she was awarded a Fellowship to join the British Antarctic Survey as a writer in residence, and in 2010 she was based at the University of Cape Town in South Africa as a Mellon Foundation Fellow. Her debut collection of poetry, ‘Night Orders’, was published by Smith/Doorstop Books last year.
