The University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing programme is to be awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education, the UK’s most prestigious higher education award. The news was announced at a reception at
St James’ Palace on 24th November. UEA Director of Creative Writing, Andrew Cowan, will receive the award from the Queen at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on 24th February. The citation for the award, which recognises outstanding work at a world-class level, notes UEA’s pioneering role in establishing the academic discipline of Creative Writing in the UK, the unrivalled success of its alumni over the last forty years, and its continuing
importance as an internationally renowned centre of excellence in the teaching of Creative Writing.
