graduated from the Prose Fiction MA in 2008 and published her first novel, ‘Tiny Sunbirds, Far Away’, with Quercus last year. Before joining UEA, where
she was the recipient of the Malcolm Bradbury Memorial Bursary, she worked as a paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital, a teacher of nursing and as a senior sister. She lives in London and is currently writing her second novel. Another UEA alumnus, Andrew Miller (1990), won the £5,000 Costa Novel Award, while Martyn Bedford (1994) was shortlisted for the Children’s Book of the Year Award. The overall winner of the Costa Book of the Year Award, which is worth £30,000, will be announced on 24th January.
