Debut novels by UEA graduates Sarah Ridgard and Natasha Soobramanien have been selected for the latest Amazon Rising Stars 2012 competition. Over the course of the year Amazon selects twelve new novels, which are presented in groups of four. Customer reviews determine the winner from each group, with the overall winner to be announced at the end of the year. Sarah (pictured) graduated with distinction from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2002, and in 2009 was one of the winners of the Arts Council-funded Escalator Literature Award. She is selected for ‘Seldom Seen’, published by Hutchinson last month. Natasha completed her MA in Creative Writing in 2002 and her PhD in Creative & Critical Writing in 2010. She contributed two chapters to fellow UEA graduate Luke Williams’s novel ‘The Echo Chamber’, which won the Saltire Award earlier this year. She is selected for ‘Genie and Paul’, published by Myriad Editions this month.
