Mags Chalcraft wins playwriting competition 4th September Current UEA undergraduate, Mags
Chalcraft, has won a playwriting competition for her play ‘Tunnel’, which will be performed this month at the Bulbul 2012 event at The Nightingale Theatre in Brighton. ‘Tunnel’ is one of four 30 minute plays written in response to the Arab Spring to be chosen. The competition was run by Sandpit Arts and The Nightingale and the winners will work with the directors Diyan Zora (‘Twelfth Night’, Cockpit Theatre), Tanushka Marah (‘Rest Upon the Wind’, Riverside Studios), Clement De Dadelsen (‘Twelfth Night’, Cockpit Theatre) and Seíf Shehata (‘One Day In Spring’, The Traverse). The four winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges: Steven Brett (artistic director, The Nightingale), Chris Taylor’(director, New Writing South), Tanushka Marah (artistic director, Company: Collisions), Julian Caddy (managing
director, Brighton Fringe) and Diyan Zora (creative director, Swivel Theatre Company).
