‘Worthless Men’, the latest novel by UEA writer Andrew Cowan, is published in paperback by Sceptre this week. Andrew graduated from the UEA Creative Writing MA in 1985 and is now the Director of the Creative Writing programme. He is the author of four previous novels. ‘Pig’ won a Betty Trask Award, the Authors’ Club First Novel Award, the Ruth Hadden Memorial Prize, a Scottish Arts Council Book Award and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and was shortlisted for five other awards. ‘Common Ground’ and ‘Crustaceans’ both received competitive Arts Council bursaries. ‘What I Know’ was a recipient of an Arts Council Writers’ Award and was published in 2005. His guidebook ‘The Art of Writing Fiction’ was published in 2011.
