Stories by two UEA writers which were shortlisted for this year’s Bristol Short Story Prize are to be published this month in the annual Bristol Short Story Prize anthology. Bethany Proud, who graduated from the English Literature with Creative Writing BA in 2011, is included for her story ‘Ferried Back’. Krishan Coupland, who is currently completing his MA in Creative Writing (Prose), is included for ‘Men of the Waste’. Earlier this year Krishan (pictured) was shortlisted for the Tibor Jones Pageturner Prize for his novel for young adults ‘You Must Be Charlie’s Brother’. He was also placed second in the Poetry Book Society Student Poetry Competition, and in 2011 was the winner of the Manchester Fiction Prize.
