Recent UEA graduates Rob Magnusson Smith and Natasha Pulley have secured book deals with Granta and Bloomsbury respectively. ‘Scorper’ is Rob’s second novel and has been acquired by Max Porter at Granta Books for publication in 2015. He began work on the novel while completing his MA in Creative Writing (Prose) at UEA in 2009-10. His first novel, ‘The Gravedigger’ won the William Faulkner Creative Writing Competition and was published by the University of New Orleans Press in 2010. He currently works as a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter. Natasha (pictured) has signed a two-book deal with Bloomsbury for her first and second novels. ‘The Watchmaker of Filigree Street’, which she began while studying at UEA, will be published in March 2015 and ‘The Bedlam Stacks’ in 2016. Natasha studied English at Oxford and completed her MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA in 2012. Having previously taught English in China, she is currently learning Japanese while completing a nineteen-month Daiwa Fellowship in Tokyo, Japan.
