‘Number Three’, by UEA writer Anna Metcalfe, has made it through to the shortlist for this year’s Sunday Times EFG Private Bank short story prize, having been longlisted last month. The prize is the world’s richest award for short fiction, worth £30,000 to the winner. At 26, Anna (pictured) is the youngest writer ever to be shortlisted for the prize. She graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2012 and is currently undertaking her PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA under the supervision of Henry Sutton and Lyndsey Stonebridge. The winner of the prize will be announced at a ceremony in London on 4th April.
