‘Words and Women: One’ is the inaugural collection of short prose by women writers in the East of England and is published by Unthank Books on March 8th to coincide with International Women’s Day. The volume – which contains memoir, fiction and creative non-fiction – is edited by UEA Creative Writing graduates Lynne Bryan and Belona Greenwood and contains the 21 winning entries in the 2013 Words and Women writing competition, which was won by current UEA student Danielle Redd. Lynne graduated from the MA in Creative Writing in 1985 and is the author of ‘Envy at the Cheese Handout’ (1995) , ‘Gorgeous’ (1999) and ‘ Like Rabbits’ (2002). Belona graduated from the Scriptwriting strand of the Creative Writing MA in 2005 and has since gained numerous writing credits including ‘The Beauty of Venice’, which was longlisted for the British Short Screenplay Award, and ‘Shadow Madonnas’, the winner of the Decibel Penguin Prize for Life Writing.
