UEA alumna Katharine Norbury is the profiled writer in The Observer’s survey of ‘Rising Stars’ in the arts for 2015. Katharine (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA in 2013 and will publish her first book, The Fish Ladder: A Journey Upstream – a travelogue-memoir – with Bloomsbury in February. Katharine trained as a film editor with the BBC, later becoming a script editor, and worked for several years with writers including Alan Bleasdale, Harold Pinter, Anthony Minghella and Dennis Potter. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths College, London, where she teaches on the undergraduate Creative Writing programme and is being supervised by Blake Morrison.
