UEA graduates number almost half the writers selected for ‘Words and Women: Two’, the second annual collection of short prose by women writers in the East of England, which is published by Unthank Books on March 8th to coincide with International Women’s Day. The volume – which contains memoir, fiction and creative non-fiction – is edited by Lynne Bryan and Belona Greenwood and contains the 21 winning entries from the 2014 Words and Women writing competition. The ten UEA alumnae to be selected are Abigail Erwin (BA 2013; current MA) for ‘The Oversight’, Hannah Garrard (BA 2005; current MA) for ‘Did You Eat Lunch?’, Caitlin Ingham (current MA) for ‘The Bridge’, Radhika Oberoi (current MA) for ‘Reporter’, Beth Settle (BA 2004; MA 2007) for ‘For Dave Garner’, Hannah Harper (MA 2011) for ‘Camera Black’, Avani Shah (BA 2011) for ‘Mira/Meera’, Thea Smiley (BA 2012) for ‘Magazines’, Anna Metcalfe (MA 2012; current PhD) for ‘The Professor’, and Julianne Pachico (MA 2013; current PhD) for ‘Kurt Cobain’s Son’. ‘Lucky’, another story by Julianne Pachico, is to be included in Salt Short Stories 2015.
