Writer and politician Alan Johnson will be appearing at the UEA literary festival this Wednesday, where he will be reading from his new book ‘Please, Mister Postman’ and talking to UEA Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing Henry Sutton about his life and career. Alan Johnson has been a Labour Party MP since 1997. He served as Home Secretary from June 2009 to May 2010, having previously served as Health Secretary and Education Secretary. He was then Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. His first book, the childhood memoir ‘This Boy’, won the Ondaatje and Orwell Prizes. The event begins at 7pm and will be held in the University’s main lecture theatre. Tickets may be booked here.
