The Green Road by UEA alumna Anne Enright has been shortlisted for this year’s Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, which is worth £30,000 to the winner. Anne (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing in 1987 and was last year announced as the inaugural Laureate for Irish Fiction. She is the author of nine previous works, including the winner of the 2007 Man Booker Prize, The Gathering. The Green Road was published by Jonathan Cape last year and won the 2015 Bord Gáis Energy Irish Novel of the Year Award as well as being shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award and longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. It was also recently shortlisted for the British Book Industry Awards and the adult category of this year’s Independent Bookseller Week Book Awards. The winner of the Baileys Prize, which was formerly known as the Orange Prize, will be announced on 8 June.
