Real Gods Require Blood, the debut short film scripted by UEA alumnus Tom Benn, has recently been premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival International Critics’ Week. Directed by Moin Hussain, the film was initially written on the iWrite scheme, an initiative set up by Creative England for emerging screenwriters. It will receive its UK premiere later this month at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Tom (pictured) graduated from the UEA BA in English Literature with Creative Writing in 2009 and from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2010. He is the author of The Doll Princess (2012), which was shortlisted for the 2012 Dylan Thomas Prize and the 2013 Portico Prize, Chamber Music (2013) and Trouble Man (2014).
