‘Tasting Notes’ by UEA graduate Judy O’Kane has won the 2018 Charles Causley International Poetry Competition, which is worth £2,000 plus a week-long residency at Cyprus Well, Charles Causley’s former home. Another poem by Judy, ‘The Rocket House’, was one of five highly commended poems in the competition. Judy graduated from the UEA MA in Lifewriting in 2012 and is currently completing a PhD in Creative & Critical Writing at UEA. Thirst, her non-fiction work-in-progress, was shortlisted for the 2016 Biographers’ Club Tony Lothian Award for best un-commissioned first biography, and in 2017 she won the National Memory Day Poetry Prize and the Irish Post Poetry Prize.
