‘The Report’ by current UEA student Jon Platten has won the 2019 Orwell Society Dystopian Fiction Competition, which was open to all BA and MA students in Britain. He will receive a prize of £500 and a bust of George Orwell. John (pictured) is a former headmaster of Alderman Peel High School in Wells, Norfolk, and principal of the Norwich Open Academy, and is currently completing the UEA MA in Biography and Creative Non-Fiction. Another current UEA student, Mark Hankin, who is completing the MA in Crime Fiction, was shortlisted for the Orwell Society competition.
