Dear Big Gods is the second collection of poetry by UEA alumna Mona Arshi and is published by Liverpool University Press this week. Mona trained as a lawyer and worked for the human rights organization Liberty for several years before joining UEA. She graduated from the Creative Writing (Poetry) MA in 2011, and published her first collection Small Hands in 2015, winning the Felix Dennis/Forward Prize for Best First Collection for her debut poetry collection Small Hands. She has recently been working with ‘Dancing Words’, and collaborated with composer Tom Szirtes and dancer Ella Mesma to develop a film poem – Ballad of the Small Boned Daughter – which was screened at the BFI in January 2018.
