The Doll Factory is the debut novel by UEA alumna Elizabeth Macneal and is published by Picador this week. Elizabeth grew up in Edinburgh and read English Literature at Oxford University, where she was a Buccleugh Scholar. After working in the City for several years she joined the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA in 2016 as that year’s recipient of the Malcolm Bradbury Memorial Scholarship. The Doll Factory, which she began at UEA, was the winner of the 2018 Caledonia Novel Award, and was secured by Picador after a thirteen-publisher auction. Elizabeth is also a potter and runs Limehouse Ceramics in London.
