Recent graduate Emily Coutts has been named as the recipient of this year’s £1,500 Curtis Brown Award, which is awarded annually to the best student on the UEA Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) MA, as chosen by a panel of Curtis Brown agents. The prize was established by the agency in memory of their colleague Giles Gordon, and was presented to Emily by literary agent Karolina Sutton last week. Emily studied English at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and subsequently taught English in secondary schools. She currently lives and teaches in Norwich, and is working on a collection of linked short stories.
