The Shape Of His Words, the novel-in-progress by UEA alumna Sarah Marsh, has been shortlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, which is worth £1,500 to the winner and a consultation with the literary agency Peters Fraser Dunlop. Sarah (pictured) read Human Sciences at Oxford and taught English in China before graduating from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2009. She has since worked in the arts sector and for literary charities including First Story. The Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize has previously been won by UEA alumnae Emily Midorikawa (MA 2005) and Deepa Anappara (MA 2017), while Kathryn Simmonds (MA 2002), Poppy Sebag-Montefiore (MA 2014), Lauren Van Schaik (MA 2016) and Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott (MA 2017) have all been shortlisted. The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 23 May.
