Two novels by graduates of the UEA Creative Writing MA have been included on the longlist for the 2020 Women’s Prize for Fiction, Actress by Anne Enright and Djinn Patrol On The Purple Line by Deepa Anappara. Anne graduated from the MA in 1987 and is the author of eleven previous books, including the winner of the 2007 Man Booker Prize, The Gathering. Actress was published by Jonathan Cape last month. Deepa graduated from the MA in 2017 and is currently studying at UEA for her PhD in Creative and Critical Writing. Djinn Patrol On The Purple Line was published by Chatto & Windus earlier this year, having already won while in manuscript the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, the Deborah Rogers Foundation Writers Award, and the Bridport/Peggy Chapman-Andrews Award. The shortlist for the Women’s Prize will be announced on 22 April and the winner on 3 June.
