UEA alumna Ayobami Adebayo has rejoined UEA as this year’s 9Mobile Writing Fellow. Founded in 2013 as the Etisalat Prize for Literature, the 9Mobile Prize for Literature is a pan-African literary prize for debut books of fiction. The winner receives £15,000 and three-month Fellowship at UEA. Ayobami (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2014. Her first novel Stay With Me, for which she was awarded the 9Mobile award, was published by Canongate in the UK and Knopf in the USA, and translation rights were sold to a range of overseas publishers, including Ouida Books in Nigeria. In 2017 it was shortlisted for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction. It was also nominated for the 2018 Dylan Thomas Prize and the Wellcome Book Prize, and is currently longlisted for the Prix Les Afriques.
