Where Are We Now? is the new novel by UEA alumnus Glenn Patterson and is published this week by Apollo. Glenn graduated from the Creative Writing MA in 1986 and has since published fourteen other books, including most recently Backstop Land. His debut novel Burning Your Own was published in 1988 and won a Betty Trask Award and the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature. In 2006 he received an Arts Council Northern Ireland Major Individual Artist Award and published his first work of non-fiction, Lapsed Protestant. A follow-up, Here’s Me Here: Further Reflections of a Lapsed Protestant, was published in 2015. His 2012 novel, The Mill for Grinding Old People Young, was the One City One Book choice for Belfast. He is also the co-writer of Good Vibrations (BBC Films/The Works), an award-winning movie based on the life of Belfast punk impresario Terri Hooley. Glenn lives in Belfast, where he teaches on the MA in Creative Writing at Queen’s University.
