Three UEA Creative Writing graduates have been shortlisted for the 2020 OutSpoken Prize for Poetry: Gboyega Odubanjo in the ‘Page’ category, and James McDermott and Molly Naylor in the ‘Performance’ category. OutSpoken is a monthly poetry and music night held at the South Bank Centre in London, and the winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 30 April. Gboyega (pictured) gained a BA in English & Philosophy at UEA in 2016 and graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) in 2017. His debut collection While I Yet Live was published in 2019. James and Molly both graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting), in 2016 and 2008 respectively. Molly has since joined UEA as a Lecturer in Scriptwriting. James will be one of the featured artists in the Future and Form project that is a centrepiece of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of the UEA Creative Writing programme.
