The Ascent to Godhood by UEA graduate JY Yang has been shortlisted in the Novella category of the 2020 Locus Science Fiction Foundation Awards. The novella, part of the Tensorate silkpunk fantasy series, was published by Tor last year. JY graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2016. A journalist and former scientist from Singapore, JY’s short fiction has been published in a range of print and online journals and anthologies, including Lightspeead, Uncanny, Clarkesworld and Strange Horizons. The previous titles in the Tensorate series are The Black Tides Of Heaven, The Red Threads Of Fortune, and The Descent Of Monsters. The winners of the Locus awards will be announced on 27 June.
