In Praise of Hands is a new book of woodblock prints and poems by UEA alumna Penny Boxall and Japanese artist Naoko Matsubara. It is published by Ashmolean Museum Publications this week. Penny graduated from the UEA BA in English Literature with Creative Writing in 2008 and from the MA in Creative Writing in 2009. She is the author of two collections of poetry, Ship of the Line (2014) and Who Goes There (2018). She was the winner of the 2016 Edwin Morgan Poetry Award, the 2018 Mslexia/PBS Poetry Competition and a 2019 Northern Writers’ Award, and has held residencies and fellowships at Gladstone’s Library, Hawthornden Castle, Chateau de Lavigny, and Merton College, Oxford. She is currently the Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of York.
