The Wolf Road by UEA alumnus Richard Lambert has been nominated for this year’s Branford Boase Award, which is given annually to the author of an outstanding debut novel for children. It was published by Everything With Words last year. Richard graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2010 and published his debut collection of poetry, Night Journey, in 2012. His second collection, The Nameless Places, was published by Arc in 2017 and was shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Awards. His short story ‘The Hazel Twig and Olive Tree’ was shortlisted for the 2017 Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award. His poems have appeared in the Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, and The Forward Anthology, and he was the winner of the 2019 Fish Short Story Prize. The Branford Boase Award is sponsored by Walker Books and was previously won by UEA alumni Chelsey Flood in 2014 and Mitch Johnson in 2018. This year’s shortlist will be announced on 29 April, and the winner on 15 July.
