Three UEA alumni have been longlisted for this year’s Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize. Edward Hogan, who graduated from the Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) MA in 2004, is nominated for ‘Single Sit’; Gordon Collins, who graduated from the MA in 2010, is nominated for ‘Ezanthus and the Nation’; and Lauren Van Schaik (pictured), a current PhD student who graduated from the MA in 2016, is longlisted for ‘Kitchen with an Island’. Two other alumnae, Erica Wagner (MA 1991) and Kathy Stevens (MA 2017), were given Special Mentions. The competition is judged by Eley Williams, Sam Fisher and Catherine Taylor and is worth £2,000 to the winner. UEA alumna Anna Wood (MA 2011) was the winner of the 2019 competition, while Vijay Khurana (MFA 2019) was shortlisted in 2020.
