Iron Goddess of Mercy is a book-length poem by UEA alumna Larissa Lai and is published by Arsenal Pulp Press this week. Larissa graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2001 and is the author of three novels: When Fox Is a Thousand (1995), Salt Fish Girl (2002), and The Tiger Flu (2018), which won a Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction, was named an Otherwise Honor Book, and was shortlisted for the City of Calgary W.O. Mitchell Award. Her previous book of poetry include Automaton Biographies (2009). She holds a Canada Research Chair in Creative Writing at the University of Calgary, and was the winner of the Lambda Literary’s Jim Duggins Outstanding Mid-Career Novelists’ Prize in 2020.
