The Muslim Problem: Why We’re Wrong About Islam and Why It Matters is the first book by UEA writer Tawseef Khan and is published by Atlantic Books this week. Tawseef, who was born in Manchester, is a solicitor specialising in Immigration and Asylum Law as well as a human rights activist with over ten years of experience on queer, refugee and Muslim issues. He is a current part-time student on the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA, having previously obtained a PhD from the University of Liverpool, where his thesis explored the experiences of lesbian, gay and bisexual asylum-seekers under the British asylum system. In 2017 he was a recipient of a Northern Writers Award and a grant from Arts Council England to develop a novel-in-stories about life as an immigration solicitor.
