Circus of Wonders is the new novel by UEA alumna Elizabeth Macneal and is published by Picador this week. Elizabeth grew up in Edinburgh and read English Literature at Oxford University, where she was a Buccleugh Scholar. After working in the City for several years she joined the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA in 2016 as that year’s recipient of the Malcolm Bradbury Memorial Scholarship. Her first novel The Doll Factory, which she began at UEA, was the winner of the 2018 Caledonia Novel Award, and was secured by Picador after a thirteen-publisher auction. It was shortlisted for the 2020 Historical Writers’ Association (HWA) Crown Awards. Elizabeth is also a potter and runs Limehouse Ceramics in London. She is the sponsor of the Bourne Scholarship for a student to study on the UEA MA.
