The Living Book is a virtual reality experience by UEA alumnus Mitch Johnson which examines the possible effects of climate change via a 360-degree interactive VR imaginarium. Commissioned as part of UEA’s Future & Form project, it was created in collaboration with Guildhall Live Events, an innovative new department of Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and will be launched online as part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival on 21 May. Future & Form comprises six new multidisciplinary, experimental works that explore the interface between contemporary literature and creative technology. Funded by Arts Council England, it is the centrepiece of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of the UEA Creative Writing programme. Mitch (pictured) graduated from the UEA BA in Literature with Creative Writing in 2014. His debut novel for middle-grade readers, Kick, won the Branford Boase Award, and has been followed by Pop!, published earlier this month.
