Speed of Lightness is a revised edition of the second novel by UEA alumnus Barrie Sherwood and has just been published by Penguin Random House SEA. It was originally published in 2007 by Granta as Escape from Amsterdam. Born in Hong Kong of Canadian and French nationality, Barrie now lives in Singapore where he is an assistant professor in the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University. He graduated with a PhD in Creative & Critical Writing from UEA in 2008, having previously published a novel, The Pillow Book of Lady Kasa (DC Books, 2000). His debut collection of short fiction, The Angel Tiger and Other Stories, was published by Epigram Books in 2019.
