A Life in 16 Films: How Cinema Made a Playwright is the second book by UEA Professor of Scriptwriting Steve Waters and has just been published by Methuen Drama. His previous book The Secret Life of Plays was published by Nick Hern Books in 2010. Steve has written many plays for the stage, including Limehouse and Temple (both for the Donmar Warehouse, London), Little Platoons and The Contingency Plan (both at the Bush Theatre, London), Fast Labour (West Yorkshire Playhouse and Hampstead Theatre, London), and World Music (Sheffield Crucible/Donmar Warehouse), all of which are published by Nick Hern Books. His adaptation of The Last King of Scotland by fellow UEA Professor, the novelist Giles Foden, was staged at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre in 2019, while his nine-part drama Fall Of The Shah was broadcast on the BBC World Service in 2020. His most recent work for radio, Song of the Reed, was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
