‘Follower’ by UEA alumnus Vijay Khurana has been shortlisted for the 2021 Bristol Short Story Prize. Earlier this month he was named as one of the four winners of Australia’s Griffith Review Emerging Voices competition for his story ‘The Menaced Assassin’, which will be published in Griffith Review later this year. Vijay (pictured) graduated in 2019 from the MFA in Creative Writing. This year he was also shortlisted for the Mairtín Crawford Award at the Belfast Book Festival, and awarded second prize in the Cúirt New Writing Prize, which is part of Galway’s Cúirt International Festival of Literature. In 2019 he was shortlisted for the Bath Short Story Award, and he has twice been shortlisted for the Galley Beggar Short Story Prize, in 2019 and 2020. His children’s chapter book Regal Beagle was published in 2014. He lives in Berlin and is currently completing a novel. The winner of the Bristol Short Story Prize will be announced on 9 October.
