The Great Thorpe Railway Disaster of 1874: Heroes, Victims, Survivors is the new book by UEA alumna Phyllida Scrivens and has just been published by Pen & Sword Books. Phyllida graduated with a BA in Literature from the Open University in 2011 and completed the MA in Biography and Creative Non-Fiction at UEA in 2014. Her debut publication, Escaping Hitler: A Jewish Boy’s Quest For Freedom And His Future, was published by Pen and Sword in 2016, and was followed by The Lady Lord Mayors of Norwich 1923-2017, which was published by Pen & Sword in 2018 and the Best Biography Prize at the East Anglian Book Awards. Phyllida lives in Norfolk and was awarded the 2015 Harry Watson Bursary from the Norwich Heritage, Economic and Regeneration Trust to research the seventeen female Lord Mayors featured in her group biography.
