The Thoughts is the first full-length poetry collection by UEA alumna Sarah Barnsley and is published by Smith/Doorstop this week. Sarah graduated with a BA in English and American Studies from UEA in 1997. She was a winner of the Poetry Society Members’ Poems Competition in 2018 and 2021 and shortlisted for the Live Canon Poetry Competition and the Bridport Prize in 2018. She was a joint runner-up in the Poetry School/Pighog Pamphlet Competition in 2014 and published her pamphlet, The Fire Station, in 2015). She is also the co-editor of Truths: A Telltale Press Anthology (2018) and works of literary criticism including Mary Barnard, American Imagist (2013). She is a Senior Lecturer in English and American Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London.
