Annabel graduated from UEA in 1987 with a BA in English Literature, after which she established a successful marketing consultancy. Her debut novel, The Joyce Girl, was published in 2016 and won the Impress Prize for New Writers, as well as being longlisted for the Bath Novel Award, the Waverley Good Read Award and the Caledonia Novel Award. It has been translated into multiple languages. Her second novel, Frieda, was published in 2018, and in 2020 she was shortlisted for the Gladstones Library Writers in Residence fellowship. Her non-fiction book, Windswept: Walking in the Footsteps of Remarkable Women, was published last year by Two Roads Books, an imprint of John Murray Press. Annabel is the sponsor of a full scholarship for a student to undertake the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA.
