‘Sunblock’ by UEA alumna L.E.Yates has won this year’s Costa Short Story Prize. Originally from Manchester, L.E. now lives in East London and graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2006. Her short stories have appeared in a range of publications including Litro, Gertrude and Clav Mag. She has been an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing at the Open University since 2007 and is currently working on a novel. The Costa Short Story Prize was previously won in 2012 by UEA alumna Avril Joy. PhD alumna Erin Soros was shortlisted in 2014 and 2015, while BA alumnus George Rennison was highly commended in 2021.
