Build Your House Around My Body, the debut novel by former UEA writing fellow Violet Kupersmith, has been longlisted for the 2022 Women’s Prize for Fiction. It was published by Oneworld last year. Violet (pictured) joined UEA as the David T.K. Wong Writing Fellow in 2015. She was born in rural Pennsylvania in 1989, and currently lives in the United States. Her mother was born in Vietnam and fled the country by boat following the fall of Saigon in April 1975, and her father is American. She studied French and English literature at Mount Holyoke College, graduating in 2011, and spent a year teaching English in the Mekong Delta on a Fulbright Fellowship. Her debut collection of short stories, The Frangipani Hotel, was published by Spiegel & Grau in 2014. The shortlist for the Women’s Prize will be announced on 27 April, and the winner on 15 June.
