The Snow Line by UEA Professor of Creative Writing Tessa McWatt has been shortlisted for the Society of Authors / Gordon Bowker Volcano Prize for a novel focusing on the experience of travel away from home. It was published by Scribe last year. Tessa (pictured) is the author of six previous novels, including Higher Ed (2015), two books for young people, and the memoir Shame On Me: An Anatomy of Race and Belonging, which was published in 2019 and went on to win the 2020 OCM Bocas Prize. It was also shortlisted for the 2020 Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction and Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Awards in the Non-Fiction category. Tessa’s previous works have also been nominated for the Governor General’s Award, the OCM Bocas Prize, and for the City of Toronto Book Awards. In 2018 she was one of the winners of the Eccles British Library Award.
