Zo and the Forest of Secrets is the debut novel for children by UEA alumna Alake Pilgrim and is published this week by Knights Of. Alake graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2017 as the recipient of that year’s Booker Prize Foundation Scholarship. Originally from Trinidad, she previously gained an MA in Latin American & Caribbean Studies from New York University. Her stories have twice won the regional prize for the Americas in the Commonwealth Short Story Competition and have been published by The Center for Fiction in New York, the Small Axe Journal, The Haunted Tropics edited by Martin Munro (UWI Press), and in the international anthology New Daughters of Africa, edited by Margaret Busby (Myriad Editions and HarperCollins).
