The UEA Literary Festival was founded in 1991 and this past academic year we have been celebrating 30 years of live literature at the university.
Now known as UEA Live, the Spring 2021 season featured this event with Christie Watson in conversation with Fiona Lettice.
Christie is a Professor of Medical and Health Humanities at UEA. She trained as a paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital and worked in nursing for twenty years before graduating from the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2007. Her debut novel, Tiny Sunbirds Far Away, was published in 2011 and won the Costa First Novel Award. Her second novel, Where Women Are Kings, was published by Quercus in 2013. Her works of non-fiction are the bestsellers The Language of Kindness: A Nurse’s Story, which was nominated for the 2019 British Book Awards, The Courage to Care, published in 2020 by Chatto & Windus, and most recently Quilt on Fire: the Messy Magic of Midlife, also published by Chatto & Windus.
Fiona Lettice is a Professor of Innovation Management in the Norwich Business School at UEA and Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
