Other Names For Love is the debut novel by UEA alumnus Taymour Soomro and is published by Harvill Secker this week. Taymour graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2016 as the recipient of that year’s Curtis Brown Award and subsequently gained his PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from UEA in 2021. Previously he studied law at Cambridge University and Stanford Law School. His short fiction has appeared in the New Yorker and the Southern Review, and was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and the Glimmer Train Prize. He is the co-editor, with UEA alumna Deepa Anappara, of Letters to a Writer of Colour, an anthology on fiction, race and culture forthcoming in 2023.
