The Last Gift of Emmeline Davies by current UEA student Louise Tucker has recently been shortlisted for both the Cheshire Novel Prize, an international competition open to unagented authors, and the Bath Novel Award. Louise is about to graduate from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) as the holder of the Annabel Abbs scholarship. She has spent most of her working life in trade publishing and academia, teaching in the US, France and Britain. Her book about her father was the runner-up in the 2014 Woman & Home memoir competition and highly commended in the 2017 Spread the Word Life Writing competition. A previous draft of The Last Gift of Emmeline Davies (then titled The Last Field) won the inaugural PFD Lost the Plot prize in 2019, and was shortlisted for the 2019 Bath Novel Prize and longlisted for the 2019 Stockholm First Pages Prize.
