UEA alumnus Paddy Hughes and current student Martha Loader have been shortlisted for the 2022 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, which is offered in partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre and is worth £16,000 prize to the winner. The prize was previously won by UEA Scriptwriting lecturer, Ben Musgrove. Paddy graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) in 2016 and works as a playwright, dramaturg and script reader based in Liverpool. He is nominated for Leave the Morning to the Morning. Martha (pictured) is a current part-time student on the MA in Scriptwriting and is nominated for Bindwind. She won the Award for Promising Young Playwright at the INK Festival 2019 and is an alumna of the Mercury Playwrights, Soho Writers Lab and HighTide Writers programmes.
