The House Next to the Factory is the debut collection of linked short stories by UEA alumna Sonal Kohli and is published in the UK this week by Swift Press. It was published in India by HarperCollins last year. Sonal grew up in Delhi and now lives in Washington, D.C. She gained a BA in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, before graduating from the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2013. She has received fellowships from Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Sangam House, and her stories have been shortlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize 2019 and Fish Short Story Prize 2014. The House Next to the Factory is currently shortlisted for India’s Valley of Words Awards.
