UEA alumna Prerana Kumar has been announced as one of the three winners of the 2022 Women Poets’ Prize, which is awarded every other year and is administered by the National Centre for Writing and funded by the Rebecca Swift Foundation. The other two winners are Dillon Jaxx and Jennifer Lee Tsai and all three winners will receive a £1,000 cash prize, one-to-one mentoring and coaching from The Literary Consultancy, workshops with Faber & Faber, and performance coaching with Apples & Snakes. Prerana (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) last year. She was recently the digital poet-in-residence for The Poetry Business and has previously been shortlisted for the Nine Arches Press Primers scheme and the 2022 The White Review Poet’s Prize. Her work has been published in Magma, Barren, Bath Magg and Ink Sweat & Tears, among others. Recent UEA graduate, Olivia Tuck, was longlisted for the Women Poets’ Prize.
