A Revolutionary Consciousness: Black Britain, Black Power, and the Caribbean Artists Movement by UEA alumnus Malachi McIntosh has been awarded a Royal Society of Literature (RSL) Giles St Aubyn Award for Non-Fiction. The award is intended to support writers working on their first commissioned works of non-fiction. Malachi (pictured) was born and lives in Birmingham, England, but spent his childhood in the United States. He graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2015 and is currently an Associate Professor of World Literatures in English at the University of Oxford and the Barbara Pym Tutorial Fellow in English at St. Hilda’s College. He was until recently the editor of Wasafiri Magazine. Earlier this year A Revolutionary Consciousness was also shortlisted for the Eccles Centre and Hay Festival Writer’s Award. It will be published by Faber in 2025
